memories and images

While exploring the internet in a search for inspiration I stumbled upon the website of an artist called Sally Mankus (http://www.sallymankus.com). In her mixed media works she lifts rust and other markings from the surfaces of used objects and combines these with paint, images and found objects; a technique I’m just as interested in as the works themselves. The pieces she produces are beautiful and somehow eerie, the layers of memories combining with portraits of unknown strangers in a way that makes me want to learn more about them.
